Right... its time for me to start a project which will be my last due to wasting too much money
This rig will be based purely for gaming with the occasional web surfing and university work.
Unforunately i don't have all the components i need but thats only the third watercooling loop.
Specs are below: (reason doing this early - so no-one nicks my ideas/name  )
*LONG LIST*

I'm 20 BTW
Um... might seem a little overkill for what i'm building but just to say that this will be future proof and in a few years time, all i have to do is upgrade the graphics and CPU only without having to mess more with watercooling. Its nice but its also too expensive... burnt a big enough hole in my pocket already... soon i'll have no trousers left :P

Your 3rd loop does seem a bit excessive, but I bet it'll kick ass!
Was gonna say - how will it all fit, but a mountainmods case, nice!
f.sardis
11-02-2006, 03:00 PM
only need two loops with dual rads. i too dont agree with the third loop.
also, it cant be future proof since sockets and heatsink mounts keep changing every 2 years. amd for example in socket AM2 will be using a totaly different mount for the heatsink thus rengering current athlon64 blocks useless until/if there is a mount kit out.

True but i don't plan on upgrading similar to my brother for at least another 3 years.. as all applications won't make full use of it.. same comparison with 32 and 64 bit.. over half the applications if not all still use 32bit

little update as its been a little slow.
Got all of my parts apart from the case :( and Aquaero VDF Display, Aquastream+Control Unit, Innovatek Flow Sensor, 2xAquaDrive Harddrive Cooler, Aqua Jet, Aquacomputer Mosfet cooler, 12ft 8mm Aquacomputer hosing.... its not fair! :(

Asked Leeum to reopen this thread as i've already had some work done to the case.... nothing major until i come back from Hong Kong on the 12th June :)
Got a few updates: (C&P from another forum :) )

^^ Athlon64 X2 4400 and 2Gb Gskill HZ4000 mmm!
A biiiig box... i wonder whats inside?

After waiting a miserable 6 weeks my case has finally arrived. Won't bother saying much but here she is:

http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/2383/dsc010317gv.jpg
^^ Its masssive. The box alone takes up half of my Double bed!
Not only that but how many bl**dy screws do you need to take out to open the damn case!
http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/8185/dsc010330su.jpg
This is what the internal of the case looks like.. plenty of room for me to play around... i can probably lock myself in there if i tried  :D

^^Kinda of a dark picture but as you can see, i had to divert the small rad (120.1) to the fan placement on the mobo side. My PA160 rad was far too big!
http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/5215/dsc010565zb.jpg
^^TC120.3mm rad test fitted with 3 120mm Akasa Green LED Fans
got my mobo... Storm G4 arrives Friday but wanted to get my PC up and running. Got work to doooo!

^^Just testing the fans.. cos' lost count how many times i accidently stepped on them

^^Got the motherboard... very nice indeed
http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/674/dsc011419kd.jpg
^^Had some time off before going to work.. just to drill a few holes to attach the D5 pumps.
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/1673/dsc011422am.jpg
http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5758/dsc011448cm.jpg
^^GPU Loop almost finished.. my hand aches cos' the tubing is one hell of a tight fit... you need to stick it in HOT water to make the tubing really flimsey... still its hard even when thats done.

Not much of an update at the moment but for the *last* time, i'll be changing my upgrades.
Few goodies on the way including:
Swiftech Storm G4 CPU Block
Aquacomputer Aquaero, Aquadrive, 3metres of black tubing, Aquastream 10cm cable and a few black front plates.
Also ordering my new Eddy_EK EK-FCX1800 GPU Block

http://ekwaterblocks.com/shop/images/WAEK_001_2g.jpg
The log will be on hold in about a week or 2's time as i'll be going to Hong Kong for 3 weeks for vacation... but within that time, i'll hopefully be getting an X1900XTX maybe 2 and a DFI Crossfire MB... (if i wanna' go Crossfire)

Haven't done much at this moment... sorry for going so slow.
Was a little bored last night so i thought i would start soundproofing my case and do a little bit of wiring/soldering.
BTW the mats are not stuck down as it'll be a pain if i need to do an extra bit of modding and a hassle to rip it off.
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/2294/dsc013045ca.jpg
^^Bottom layer done
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/9906/dsc013109gu.jpg
^^Sides
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4006/dsc013115lw.jpg
^^Braided the D5's
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/8792/dsc013152ix.jpg
^^Decided to make some extension wires. 1 down, 3 more to go.. all will be braided with a 90degree molex attached to one end.
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/9877/dsc013282vb.jpg
^^Both of the D5's are connected to one of the cables of the PSU which has 3 molex connectors, i managed to hide all the excess cables which will also be out of sight when the panels are made. The 3rd cable slots in between the second and third fan mounts of the radiator grill.
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/8514/dsc013299vc.jpg
^^Remember the extension wires i made? Well they are going to attach to the molex/es, through the drive bay holes and plugged into the drives for a neater look.
http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/1176/panels7hc.jpg
^^Bottom base panels designed using Autocad. The 2 small rectangular panels in this pic are going to be fitted on each side of the outter drive bays.
Top panel will be 3mm Acrylic, middle and bottom panel will be using 8mm acylic... to give the PSU wires some space when i come to tidying it all up.
I was going to use smoked black plexi... but now Kustom have Mirror acylic, think i'll switch to that :D *yum*
Received my Storm G4 waterblock yesterday and been busy plaing with that
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/316/dsc013909qq.jpg
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/7440/dsc013947wj.jpg
Nicely lapped and pretty shiny^^
http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/1091/dsc014129ga.jpg
The panels which i have designed will be lazer cut when i come back from holiday, plus whether Scampi wants me to, i might get his panels done too... but in the mean time i'm still waiting for one of my res bay mounts which should arrive by Tuesday.

Just got back from HK so i'm feeling a bit under the weather with jetlag and the cold :(
Anyways, i managed to get hold of a X1900XTX and a Soundblaster XFI at bargain prices over there... less than $3000 for both.. which is around £200-250.
Here are the pics :)

I won't be watercooling the graphics just yet as i will need to test it first. Considering its from HK i need to make sure the card is OK and not fubarred.
Thats all for now... more updates when i get better ;)
OMG! Ok im more than a bit envious of your case! Its gunna be soooooo lush once you've finished, keep it up man!

http://img483.imageshack.us/img483/1835/dsc016910in.jpg
The leak was nothing astonishingly though i didn't noitice i was spilling some de-ionised water all over the place
The problem: The molex connector from my pump snapped off
http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/3306/dsc016954ai.jpg
EDIT: Found the main leak... no where near the tubing! Its actually inside the pump and i don't know how to fix the bugger... and i don't want a replacement
Keeps leaking out of the screw on cap on the D5.
Any ideas?

Update:
Pretty much everything has been on halt for the moment as i'm still waiting for my Aquacomputer Aquadrive. Then again they are pretty rare in the UK and even in Germany where they are made.
The watercooling has already been re-bled but i noticed the Seasonic was a little sluggish. Me thinks its time to replace it with a Tagan 900w or 1.1Kw. Maybe overkill for what my set-up currently is but what the heck... its future proof.
Made a lil' test bracket to cover the middle as you can still see the bunch of wires crammed in there. Will make the proper one after work.

One thing i need to do though is either change my DVDRW for a SATA version of get the smallest IDE cable i can find. The yellow ones DFI provide are rather big as you can see in the pics.
I'm leaving the side panels off for the summer as my rooms the hottest in the house and so room temp is between 20-30c especially at night.
As it stands:
CPU @ 24c idle
@ 29c load
GPU @ 41c idle (overclocked not massively, only around 50mhz increase on core and memory)
@ 46c load
Ram @ 41c idle and no change at load
Chipset @ 42c idle and no change at load
Aquadrive @ 33c idle and around 38c load/write
ps. will take photos again once my hand stops shaking lol
The CPU will be overclocked later as i want to make sure everything burnt in well :)
There is still one more slot in the drives i have to fill and thats going to be a VL-Systems M-Play controller which should arrive by Tuesday
Edit. Oh and a 320Gb Seagate 7200.10 is on the way to replace my corrupt HDD as well as a Seagate 750Gb to act as a back up for all of my other stuff.

Shame the cables white/beige. Doesn't really suit the colour of my rig. Will spray that black and hide it within the case. Length of the cable is over 30cm long so threading it around the case will be easy.
Its also an only external cable.. meaning i got to loop it around the back of the case which is a pain... wanted it internally fitted :( Looks like, i'll be making a little hole in a spare PCI slot cover to thread it through.. therefore tidying it up a bit.
