hi,

i had some fans in my case that had molex connectors. i converted them to 3 pin so i could control them with an akasa pro fan controller. however, i have jus relised today, that the thing alarms when a fans rpm has gone below 600rpm. this thing doesn't stop bleeping even thought all my fans are on. i know it is becuase with a three pin, the yellow/white wire is for the rpm. is there any way of making the fan controler think that the rpm's are working for the fan. i don't mind if they are the wrong rpm.s as long as the bloody thing stops bleeping. there isn't even a way to cancel the alarm.

please help. or i will go mad.

thanks in advance

If you plug it into a motherboard fan header you can alter the speed of it using Speedfan :)

desolder the speaker? i know it kinda defeats the point, but i don't think the alarms on fan controllers [even ones with temp sensors] are pointful, as long as ur mobo will cut out when the temp goes too high your fine. and that's my 2 cents.

ok, i don't think i want to do that. i was only thinking of trying to bypass that rpm wire. can't i connect it to a power wire, or -ve power wire or something. does anyone know what sort of signal acutally runs through thoughs wires?

Electrical signl runs through wires ;) :D he he he, you asked for that one.

The signal through an RPM wire is a pulse and the computer determins from the speed of the pulse how fast the fan is spinning.

An easy way to fix your problem would probably be to use one fan that has RPM sensor on and connect the wire to the RPM sensor on the fan controler.
Make sure you use a fan that is fast enough and that you put it where it would be needed all the time rather than waste a fan.

OR

Just disable the fan monitor in the BIOS - easy :D
