Hi,
its coming upto the 1 Year anniversary of the coolercases forum. I remeber it well, becuase in the middle of Venice and had to bike for half an hour to the nearest computer.
Is there going to be a special competition to celebrate?
Who's up for that...

the sweetest prize would be one of the GT series. a dual preferably.
my thinks its best to have lots of small prizes rather than a big one.
so dont give complete kits just give a pump or a tdx or a rad all as seperate prizes. maybe a fan bundle like one fan of each size.
more people will win that way and i am assuming the prize cost for you would be the same as putting a big water kit together and giving it away.
maybe for first prize you can make a little mod on an acrylic or on a TDX or put a CC engraving on a block or something cool. im sure you got more creative ideas than me.

ye,
and you need to make it so everyone can enter. so people who don't have watercooling ect. so a competition x factor thing isn't good. i think something similar like last year.

Yeah, more smaller prizes so there are more winners.
I always like the jigsaw games that you normally do :D they are cool

eh, again jigsaw? we need fresh idea.
of course many prizes mean many cmpetitions. you can have some small prizes of small value for the people that have contributed most in the forum (please for the love of god dont send me a fan i got millions of them). then you can have other prizes for the people that have done the most complete prod logs. you can have one for people who have contributed most in the guides section.
im trying to say that competitions are fine but some people deserve prizes by default for their contribution (meh, that coming from the guy with the highest post count is very dodgy but i believe i speak on behalf of most people). then you can have a small competition for other prizes.

i agree with f sardis. give some small prizes as a thankyou, then run a proper competition like last year where anyone regardless of their computers can join.
good way to get new people to join the forum as well.
p.s. thanks for moving it to the right place.

DR_D had a nice idea for a comp. check his thread in the competition section. its a guess game. maybe something similar? but only allow one guess per member.

yea i wanted to save the moment for when i reached 2000 posts. and then suddenly one day i come in here and i realise i had 2032. i thought, what the hell, when did i break 2000 and didnt even realise. maybe someone can trace it for me and find out when i broke 2000 without realising. im sure ben and paul should have it stored on some server log. maybe that can be a competition? i honestly dont know when i did it but you can exclude me from the compo just so other people wont have doubts.

You wanna know what you're 2000th post was? Quite a let down tbh lol..
Competiton would be cool, needs to be something new and original though (IMO anyway), with maybe other prizes for best worklog/worst loop etc perhaps?
f.sardis
07-06-2006, 10:41 AM
why you lil..
yea but best worklog or best guide etc are a bit subgjective. we need an objective competition where nobody decides who the winner is.
for example, the person who contributed most in the guides section is undoubtedly Paul but he is out (lol) so we are left with Highlander. so there is a prize for you. we move on to the guy with the most worklogs and so on.

A competition based on post ratings would be highly unadvisable.
For example most posts are not techie related - ok fair enough you have contributed to the forum but it does not take 20000 posts to do so - look at Highlander for example - he ONLY posts when he has something to offer us (well mostly) and doesnt just waste posts on irrelevant stuff - I would say he along with Paul have offered the most advice so far ;)
(not a dig at you at all F.Sardis - I'm sure you get the point that a compo based on posts would not be fair)

i got more to offer than tech advice. have a look at news threads and market discussions. its not all about tech advice and i think there is hardly anyone in this forum i have not helped. 2000 posts are not all advice and computer related but i think at least 90% of it is useful to many people in here.
i have probably spend most time than anyone else in this forum(apart from the moderators Ben (Sc0rian) and Paul), reading and posting or even looking for answers to other people's questions. im not out to get a gift for my contribution. as far as i am concerned paul has already given me a gift in the form of assistance and some spare parts when i got my water kit. for that i am grateful and it is also my driving force to contribute even more in this forum.
in any case this thread is about ideas so apologies for hijacking. i do think that prizes should go to people who made good guides and good prod logs. maybe a small guess comp and thats it. more ideas are good though.

I think a catagory for "best custom ______" would be good :)
Though I'm slightly biased and may want to put "fangrill" in the blank....

why not? we can have a thread with pics from all the contestants and the people who dont participate can vote for best. its very viable. it will attract people from other forums also which is good advertisement for business.

What about my acrylic cutting godliness?
both ontop of the wavemaster and going into Armonkyi's project?
(btw, are there any picceys?)

Guys, seems from this thread so far that people are just thinking of categories that they have a chance of winning...
The comp should be something EVERYONE has a chance of winning, and something that'll attract users to coolercases.
Should be focussed on what coolercases is about (sure Paul can clarify this for us) rather than who contributes most/spams the most/can cut bits of plastic the best...

I still like the idea of the original comps as it made people look through the shop.
How about a Not Pr0n style competition, just slightly easier. Several pages about coolercases and Paul himself. Or a picture of a madly stacked shelving and you have to locate a certain block on the shelf.
Or a website who dunnit? Pauls shiny master has gone missing, follow the clues to discover the culprit.

uh huh
Don't believe that for a second from someone at eton who does damn fine work with acrylic
I just think that the competition needs to be educational about coolercases and what they can offer or make you actively spend time looking around the site or the products so that it can drum up extra sales for coolercases.
Its nice for us to all say yeah lets have a compo and free stuff but its coolercases that has to foot the bill :( Unless of course you can get some sponsors (corsair, amd, intel, ati, et al) in which case just give us free goodies :D :D :D
