Hi all.

I started this worklog some time ago in others forums, and is still not finished. I'm going to try a sort of abreviated log until reach today's update. Go ahead with the first part. *Due to the number of pics i have to separate the post a little.

It's a watercooled Shuttle. And the log gone thru some stages before i decided the final look. It's beter planning before...

http://img119.echo.cx/img119/5767/sxpc1sml0qd.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Some useless stuff

http://img34.echo.cx/img34/5503/sxpc2sml8lo.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
First cuts: The front. Later was needed to cut a little more.

http://img49.echo.cx/img49/2442/sxpc3sml7vh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
First cuts: Rear. Pass throught for the tubing and rad. Of course, the fan grill also blew up XD

http://img23.echo.cx/img23/5964/sxpc4sml0ow.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The BLIM. Unfortunately isn`t the custom fittings version. Is for 3/8".

http://img23.echo.cx/img23/2222/sxpc5sml5rx.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The duct for the rad. An old PSU fan adapted and black painted.

http://img239.echo.cx/img239/6654/sxpc6sml2so.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The pump: Swiftech mcp350 or Danger Den DCC or... Anyway enought small for the shuttle.

Testing the VGA WB. It`s a homemade wb for the AGP 6600GT. Made by P0stman (Spanish homemade WB maker) and sightly modded and painted by me. I don`t know if there is any block for this special GPU like the NV68

http://img222.echo.cx/img222/6247/sxpc7sml1hq.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
http://img58.echo.cx/img58/148/sxpc8sml2yp.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
http://img58.echo.cx/img58/543/sxpc9sml4ji.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

As you can see, the WB is too thick so i need to create "something" in the hull to acomodate all.

Complementary works:

http://img138.echo.cx/img138/8516/sxpc10sml7yz.jpg
Routing the eject button and LED to a new position. The connector makes easy remove the DVDRW if needed.

http://img138.echo.cx/img138/8509/sxpc11sml2ph.jpg
Half finished main chasis. Still need some work more.
The colors for the theme will be black, silver/chrome and white lightning.

If you see my others works... yeah, I like black coloured PCs...

The front panel works.

http://img60.echo.cx/img60/7485/sxpc12sml0po.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The new plexy cover. Opening for the DVDRW tray and vents for the HD.

http://img60.echo.cx/img60/5449/sxpc13sml9gc.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The new cover with the cutted front bezel and the dismantled LIS 2P.

http://img239.echo.cx/img239/5465/sxpc17sml5dt.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Painted front parts.

http://img239.echo.cx/img239/4364/sxpc18sml8jd.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Some test...

http://img43.echo.cx/img43/6083/sxpc22sml6ps.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
While i was working on the front, also i sleeved a little the PSU wires. As i can`t sleeve the SATA wires, i tie zipped it a lot.

http://img73.echo.cx/img73/2301/sxpc23sml6qd.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The half painted drive cage and pump bracket. One level gone and the rest was welded with Araldit epoxy.

http://img93.echo.cx/img93/9775/sxpc24sml5ta.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The pump location. Upside down when instaled.

http://img35.echo.cx/img35/1058/sxpc25sml5mf.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
This is the finished cage.

http://img175.echo.cx/img175/9194/sxpc26sml0ak.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The akasa pax mate serves to reduce noise and vibration from the pump and aids to block, sightly, EMI to the HD.

The Brass TDX:

http://img175.echo.cx/img175/6720/sxpc27sml4sl.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
It looks impressive.

Making the loop
http://img78.echo.cx/img78/1254/sxpc41sml0gu.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Testing the first tubing. A short piece from the pump to block, reinforced with coolsleeves to avoid excesive bending.

More tubing in the loop. The GPU.
http://img219.echo.cx/img219/3793/sxpc42sml4ub.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Painted and finished chasis with the tubes in the GPU block.

http://img219.echo.cx/img219/4664/sxpc43sml4hl.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
http://img219.echo.cx/img219/4519/sxpc44sml9om.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The tubes fits well. Maybe, some Coolsleeves more is needed, i`ll see it later.

http://img219.echo.cx/img219/7422/sxpc45sml0vh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The tubes pass pretty close of the DVD.

http://img104.echo.cx/img104/8707/sxpc46sml7sp.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Short pieces of CoolSleeves on the GPU tubing.

http://img104.echo.cx/img104/3881/sxpc47sml7cq.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The fan i`ll use until i get a 80x38mm or bigger better fan. A trust YS-Tech fan of 3/3.5K RPMs

http://img104.echo.cx/img104/4420/sxpc48sml1zq.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The sleeved fan. Note the black three pins connectors to replace the white ones.

http://img117.echo.cx/img117/7775/sxpc49sml0sh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Black painted clamps.

http://img117.echo.cx/img117/7149/sxpc50sml8pu.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

Finishing the loop: Rad - Y - Pump.

http://img289.echo.cx/img289/4236/sxpc54sml1cb.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
With the pump mounted in the cage.

http://img289.echo.cx/img289/6043/sxpc55sml0mi.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
And the DD Fillport. One day i made a guide to copy this thing (lot of maney saved) and use in my LanMachineInterface mod, but this time i decided to buy one.

http://img266.echo.cx/img266/3576/sxpc56sml6jk.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Filling and testing. Mix of distilled water and anti-freeze. Only the pump has been powered for the test.

http://img266.echo.cx/img266/5849/sxpc57sml7ly.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
http://img266.echo.cx/img266/4123/sxpc58sml6qn.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The first runnings with lots of bubbles...

http://img266.echo.cx/img266/6448/sxpc59sml7hs.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Then, running smoothly without air in the loop. The pump is almost totally silent with the case open.

No leaks, as well :)

A little preview of the work to come... markings and cuttings:

Thanks!

Going on with other update.

You saw the cuts, and here`s the first piece.

http://img173.echo.cx/img173/4375/sxpc63sml4cu.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
http://img173.echo.cx/img173/4128/sxpc64sml8rz.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Is being welded with araldit. I need to create and make at least other three pieces only for the sides.

http://img263.echo.cx/img263/5879/sxpc65sml5vy.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
While welding, time for a little test... It`s alive!!

More pieces on the hull and front.

http://img199.echo.cx/img199/2369/sxpc66sml7lp.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
The other side.

http://img199.echo.cx/img199/1907/sxpc67sml3ps.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
One more piece in the desing. 3 for each side.

http://img67.echo.cx/img67/8333/sxpc68sml8yz.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Last piece. Lots of araldit will needed to weld all together. And cuts, sanding and bondo to flat the surfaces.

While Araldit dries, back to the front. I`ve moved to the Spaceship concept.

http://img67.echo.cx/img67/3492/sxpc69sml1jo.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
You say puzzle...??

http://img67.echo.cx/img67/9579/sxpc70sml0gs.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
"space plates" cutted...

http://img63.echo.cx/img63/9538/sxpc71sml7qu.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
A new front. Now the LIS bay plate is the bridge for the ship.

My first "bondo" (Prestolith) works, first coat... I`m taking my time to get a good finish. I hope it end well. While that...

Time to some test:

Doom 3: RoE, test... Untill end hehehe.

The blue light of the pics above comes from the Sumbeam Molex light in the GPU Plug and others.

http://img144.echo.cx/img144/2939/sxpc76sml9fq.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
I also put a Revoltec anti-vibrations joint in the fan.

Wiring works:

http://img144.echo.cx/img144/3728/sxpc77sml9zd.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
A Sumbeam mini-baybus...

http://img60.echo.cx/img60/8020/sxpc78sml4cp.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
...Stripped...

http://img140.echo.cx/img140/2816/sxpc79sml8pi.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
...and modded to fit in the shuttle little room. I removed three plugs to bend the connectors and allow more space for wiring.

http://img277.echo.cx/img277/4656/sxpc80sml0jv.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Instaled device.

http://img43.echo.cx/img43/3804/sxpc81sml9fn.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Part of the wiring done. I still have to find a solution for the front port connector. Enought for now, more wiring in the last stages of the project.

http://img252.echo.cx/img252/420/sxpc82sml2uj.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Transformed sata plugs (one of two) in one molex for the DVDrom. I left the orange wire, maybe later will need a reconversion.

Control panel (first stage):

I`ve decided to make a external control panel for the case. No buttons on the front or rear this time.

http://img252.echo.cx/img252/371/sxpc83sml4vn.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
With this Midi/joystick strip cable i get enought wires in one conector for power and reset buttons, light switches, etc...

http://img50.echo.cx/img50/2074/sxpc84sml3mu.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Soldering works... Solder and summer... hot modding?? :)

http://img50.echo.cx/img50/6538/sxpc85sml1ln.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
I`ll put the connector in the rear slot lock.

Painting the lock

http://img140.echo.cx/img140/8985/sxpc88sml3iw.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)

http://img217.echo.cx/img217/7254/sxpc90sml8wq.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Done. I also painting the spare rear slot cover in black with metal dry brushing.

http://img217.echo.cx/img217/1072/sxpc91sml9qf.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Ah! Don`t forget to make a scheme of the wiring position and -/+ poles.

Meanwhile in the front...

http://img217.echo.cx/img217/1895/sxpc92sml3hh.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
A first sandding to view an approach of the work. Need more bondo an lots of sanding.

I'll post more later. It's enought reading for a while :) I hope you like it.

First i think in a front bevel control panel, then i changed the design, and then changed again for a outter one...

I explain it:
A starship need good controls, isn`t? And i`m going to use a midi/joystick port for connections... well, instead a porject box to hold buttons, i`ve moved to this:

http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/1423/sxpc93sml4op.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
My new control panel. And i think this is the first time for a project like this. My faithful Mechwarrior 3 mate, Trust Predator Lite. It has 5 buttons, but i`ll need only 2 or 3.

http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/4127/sxpc94sml8av.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
...With the help of theese to create a new concept of control panel, in PC modding... Not for planes :)

http://img277.imageshack.us/img277/2228/sxpc95sml6dz.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Stripped joystick. Its days of playing has finished.

http://img301.imageshack.us/img301/9713/sxpc96sml4vb.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
2 lighted on/off switches for gadgets...

http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/6236/sxpc97sml5zi.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
2 Keys for secure power and reset operations...

http://img192.imageshack.us/img192/839/sxpc98sml6ys.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
And 2 Momentary buttons for power and reset

If you are wondering about joystick itself buttons... The answer is still in my mind. I`ll left the trigger and small buttons, but not functional still... later we back to theese.

http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/1588/sxpc99sml3rr.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Last minute idea: USB cable for easy device connections. Remember i removed the ports in the front.

http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/883/sxpc100sml3qs.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
About Fighter style switch: This is the base without the red cap, while i`m welding/gluing it to the joystick with Pattex product. I removed the big center button, in this place i`m going to put the control speed for the fan in the case.

http://img276.imageshack.us/img276/3471/sxpc101sml3xu.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)
Bondo for all! Take a look at the front bevel, its almost ready for paint, some sanding and modeling left

The painful wiring of the controls. i`ve had to strip all part to pass through the wires.

http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/5273/sxpc104sml6sg.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
...And then mount all again. Also you can see the cable to the PC unit, soldered and sleeved.

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/209/sxpc105sml3jv.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
The front. worked, sanded, primed, more detailed and sanded and primed again. I `ve used Duplicolor primer for plastic that is transparent.

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/1610/sxpc106sml7ko.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
With the COM dome presented. Its the housing for power and HD leds and if you remember i maked it form 2 plastic pieces from an Antec Sonata and the black painted some faces. Today i`ll buy the paint and i hope to finish it quick thank to the experience with the Intranquility project (same paint and similar look) - you can view it here (http://www.mashie.org/forums/showthread.php?t=105)

I`m at the middle of the tunnel, the light at the end is closer, but still more work is needed. Also, we reach soon the last update of this abreviated log. And then would post the regular updates.

Testing the system

Near, my new TFT screen :)

http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/3064/sxpc118sml5eo.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Without lights. The ComDome (hehehe... its sounds... jajaja) works very well and the light from the power and hd leds is blocked in some way to pass thru directly.

http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/2310/sxpc119sml9zy.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I had to make this with stand off pieces to attach the DVD cover.

http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/2787/sxpc121sml0ec.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/8884/sxpc120sml6ev.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Painted cover, with and without flash. I`m happy with the overall look of the front.

http://img354.imageshack.us/img354/4669/sxpc122sml1nv.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
To finish the day i`ve cutted a rectangular hole in the hull and added some mesh to allow more cooling for the 6600GT and others.

Last post for today (mmm... yeserday by the time).

3 weeks i gone to a LAN with this system.

Before derparture for the last week LAN i did some extra work. Anyway it was an unfinished project but i didn't want it looked a ugly teapot.

http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/3425/sxpc123sml3nz.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I need a hole to pass the fillport...

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1046/sxpc124sml5ko.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Put some mesh in the side vents.

http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/3475/sxpc125sml8ur.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/8250/sxpc126sml6dg.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
And painted it with a mix of black mat and dark grey blak mat as first coat, after began to adding some details.

With that half pimped shell i could go to the party with less red color in my face... :p

The new fan. Since the party, the temps are good (for this kind of mod/system) but i wanted to cool it a little more and i've tried with a bigger fan.

My choose has been a TT Silent Cat 92mm (Mainly reason: the 80 to 92 adaptor included) with a good flow and low noise. Actually the system is only 1C cooler :( But 1C is 1C better than nothing. Anyway the loud is lesser.

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/1634/sxpc127sml4fm.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Put the fan there is a hard duty. The desing looks good, althoug i have nothing against white color (its original for now) i would prefer a black one for this mod.

http://img392.imageshack.us/img392/5689/sxpc128sml2lj.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
No screws this time (almost not possible) so i used silentblocks. I hope, at least they avoid a little more noise also.

http://img400.imageshack.us/img400/9444/sxpc129sml7fi.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Fits, but was hard. My first idea was to replace the funnel with the 80-92 adaptor, but the hoses make that impossible.

Well, enought to enjoy reading a little. Comments are wellcome.

More tomorrow (of course.... today, later) :)

http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/502/sxpc131sml0fb.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The big hole is for better cooling of the case. Will be covered with mesh for dust and a sort of shield to avoid direct line of sight. Some of the inner lights will pass thru the smaller holes, than act as "windows"

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9585/sxpc132sml2oq.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/3993/sxpc133sml4ge.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I'm happy with the look, it makes the case less plain / flat. And the gap allow more cooling.

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2095/sxpc134sml5ir.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Inside, i've glued some mesh for dust.

One side "finished"...

...And the begining of the other one.

It isn't the exact same patern that in the other side.

The other side shield and details. Still left some work with kitbashing.

http://img378.imageshack.us/img378/7228/sxpc138sml0xu.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Inside there is mesh like in the other side.

While doing that i drilled my finger a little... :wallbash: Its fu*ki*n* @#! painful.

http://img82.imageshack.us/img82/4287/sxpc139sml9mi.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I`ve finished the other side. The white spots are epoxy to cover imperfections and screws.

Also i`ve started the top decoration.

http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/9986/sxpc140sml4qi.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img313.imageshack.us/img313/3838/sxpc141sml3ah.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
First steps in the top. The main shape is to cover the fillport tube.

Some pics of the top decoration, finished. The next step is the paint.

At this point my pump get blocked and don't want to move. I had to drain the loop and release the pump (not easy in this mod) to look for the problem. I deep cleaned the pump and seems to work again fine.

That is looking smart. I keep forgetting its only a shuttle case it looks awesomely huge.

Can we give it a six star rating? I know five is tops but just maybe?

Thanks Teebor! I've reading your log also. It's a nice work. i love the angel eye.

The paintjob has started!

With the same colour in all surfaces, the hull looks better

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/1893/sxpc144sml6pd.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Black primed.

http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5997/sxpc145sml0zd.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Some putty and sanding work.

http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/2724/sxpc146sml4tm.jpg
http://img159.imageshack.us/img159/9316/sxpc147sml1hv.jpg
http://img284.imageshack.us/img284/1278/sxpc148sml5zb.jpg
The base coats with Mat Dark Grey (Duplicolor Spray). I left some darker spots to improve the "space ship" look. After all it will be aceptabily good looking. :p

First shadows and details painted. Still left a lot of work, but you can get the idea. The fact is that i don`t want to add too much colours, like in the front Dark Grey and Gore Red as main colours and only some touches with others colours in the relevant areas. Then some dry brushing, metal bits, lights...

Two pics of the progress, sides detailed:

http://img358.imageshack.us/img358/8316/sxpc152sml0qa.jpg
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8852/sxpc153sml5aw.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
As you can see, no too much colorful, only little details. Comments acepted :)

Also i recived some reinforcements. I ordered water wetter as aditive to solve the probelm with the pump dirt.

http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8593/sxpc154sml6hk.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8803/sxpc155sml5co.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I replaced the transparent coolsleves for a red ones (little pinkish maybe) that i think will match better with red of the water wetter and the red touches in the case.

I`ve refilled the system with the distilled water / water wetter mix (about one cap for 1/2l of water).

http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/5353/sxpc156sml7rw.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
A little foamy at the begining. Maybe the water wetter? Maybe the lack of rez?

http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/7472/sxpc157sml0zl.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
After a while with the pump (standalone) powered and some refills more, the foam/bubbles gone. The full loop takes about a quarter of litre, only.

Ah! Yes. Pro refill system powerade bottle and water wetter :p

Someone in bit-tech has "launched a challenge" to me, about hull lightning.

At the begining i saw it almost impossible this time due the lack of space and the wiring in the mod but then... Well a pic tell it all.

http://img274.imageshack.us/img274/7579/sxpc159sml2jj.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
A dolphin... that magical, intelligent, tuna fish tasted... stupid animal, keyholder. I found it in a cheap chinese bazar this morning. There are a lot of that cheap shops here.

http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/8814/sxpc160sml1fe.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Stripped to get that PCB with 3 leds (red, blue, green) in strobe patern running. I used 3 of that dolphins (one as replacement, the quality of the board is horrible).

Making little video... Just wait a little.... Dekita!

Avi video (700Kb Divx) - Here (http://www.kusanagiweb.com/mods/files/sxpc/SXPCvideo1.avi) . I'll convert it to divx later.

If you miss some colorfull lights, i've replace some of the leds (green ones out). There are 4 red, one yellow and one blue.

The top painted!

The momentary switch for the lights. The best way to hide something is to put it where anyone can see it. :)

I had a Lan party this weekend. An oportunity to test my new project. I'm happy with the result. In add, i was interviewed for a magazine!!

Real Lan party proof :)

In the modding compo at the party, i won the first prize, A Sunbeam Chromatic Windmill (http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/Chromatic%20Windmill/Chromatic%20Windmill.htm) with my Darkwater mod. The second place was to this mod (http://www.hardcore-modding.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=25733&highlight=pinchillo) of a forum mate.

The next lan... in just 2 or 4 weeks (depend of my time :))
