ok thought i spill the beens now cos poor coolmister is iching to see what the hell am i ordering
at the moment my computer is knackered as the mobo is over heating as i can smell something burning and have a desktop fan cooling it down as well but if i take it away the computer cuts out and have to wait for an hour for it to cool down to start up again. and many other problems.
the vid of my old one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGHofKVXp_Q
so at the moment i am making a new computer but this time no fish tank or fancy clear cases....infact no case...
i am making a table with a box in the middle under the table where my new computer is going in with a glass cover over it like this crummy pic i made
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image067.jpg
and so far i have just finnished making the box just now adding in the parts and so far i have got the motherboard plate in and screwed in and rear cut (will sand down later)
first off was to plan out things
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image010.JPG
then make the box (yes i did it in my room cos it was cold outside)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image001.JPG
then when i made the box i needed to cut out the back plate out for the card slots (will sand down last just test fitting it first)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image003.JPGg
put in the modded mobo plate in and screwed it down and hell its well tight on
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image004.JPG
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image007.JPG
next was the psu now i havent got the new psu yes as its gonna cost me £230 for it and i need to know where the holes are on it cos i am having the psu exposed with modded fans for it (have checked with Tagan and said it will be fine if i did the fan mod. so for now i riped out of an 350W psu the mains plug conector and added it in the box
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image009.JPG
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image008.JPG
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image011.JPG
ok i have drilled a 76mm hole for an 80mm fan so all the heat inside the box will be sucked out from the rear
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image012.JPG
then added in the screw hole and screws
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image013.JPG
and when done it looked like this
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image014.JPG
i stoped of at my local hardware store (B&Q) as i needed some more parts wich costed me £50
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image017.JPG
just looking at the space the res tank was in the way when i wanted to fit in the fluorescent black light so i had move the res tank closer to the motherboard and fitted in the fluorescent base
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image019.JPG
and here are 2 pics when it was done and tested
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image020.JPG
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image021.JPG
then i came up with a problem the raditor did not fit in cos of the fluorescent base was fatter then i thought so i had to move the base upside down and highter
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image022.JPG
today i had my delevery from coolercases.co.uk and sadly i ordered 3 120mm fans but he only had 1 in stock but they are gonna send me the other 2 when soon as they get them in stock. :p
anyways i have fitted the one fan on the RAD with a danger den grill and here is what it looks like
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image023.JPG
close up
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image024.JPG
ok today i didnt do much as i was hard on time but for now i did was compare and add in some cables
doom56
15-09-2006, 07:46 PM
this is what it looked like when flashed
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image027.JPG
then in night
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image026.JPG
here is where i wrap the cables up from the pvc to UV red
this is when i fitted the sleaves on and just placed the heat shrinks where they gonna go
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image028.JPG
then i knicked my mums hairdryer and shrunk them
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image029.JPG
i installed some cables (test fit) and looks like i will have do mod some wires so it can reach the mobo for when i get the 2 other fans.
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image030.JPG
and this is taken with no flash
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image031.JPG
my bro cam in the room and then smilled and looked at his teath and they were well funny and here are some scary pics of him in the dar and UV'ed at
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image035.JPG
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image036.JPG
this when i installed the 2 rads
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image037.JPG
and bam i came up this problem and tryed everyting and just wont fit cos of the poor holes in the rad (cos of the ALU fans are a little bigger then plastic ones)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image038.JPG
drilled the 3 107mm holes for the rad (B&Q didnt do anything closer then 120mm)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image042.JPG
and the given up and finnished rad job
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image043.JPG
ok since i got the mains UV light i needed a switch and also a switch for the psu cos this one is going to be an open type so i added them in and also the same time added in a nice big power on switch on the right.
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image044.JPG
and this is the messy inside bit but will clean later in time
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image045.JPG
this is the mains temp wireing
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image046.JPG
then i forgot the HDD so i used some brackets i was going to use but now are usless but works just what i needed for the HDD
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image049.JPG
and so far under UV
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image051.JPG
my cable arrived a nice 90cm RED cable but it was pink
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image053.JPG
tested it under UV
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image055.JPG
so i braided one side that it will be seen in the box
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image056.JPG

retest under UV
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image057.JPG
miles better
YEY my alpha cool LCD arrved and was dead easy to plug in just using a USB cable no power sorce needed
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image060.JPG
after a few days trying to make this scripts i tested one
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image062.JPG
and then the new scripts i had to mod to make it work
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image063.JPG
yes it still has the protective film over it cos i aint dont yet.
then took it apart
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image061.JPG
choped the side brackets off to mount how i wanted it using picture hangers upside down and modded to fit and mount then put it in the box but i had to drill a BIG 22mm hole in the back for the usb to hang out of the rear and here is the result
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image066.JPG
well thats it but will make the power LED and HDD act led in a wired way tho so keep an eye out and i need a cheep any sort of 5 or 7" tft or lcd screen!!!

paul i wanna kiss you now after showing me that about the glass.
cos i was thinking how the hell was i going to fit the glass as i havent let room for the glass lips to rest the glass on but you shown me of a glass covering the WHOLE thing and if i do that it will protect the wood too and dont have to use an anoying mouse mat.
can any one please do me a fave is to get a brass or chrome plate and carve on it the coolercases logo as i realy want to put one in the box.
if you have any mod ideas PLEASE SAY cos the more help i get from you the better it will be.

Thats look absolutely rocking, I've always wanted a Tron style computer in desk, but yours beats that hands down and it aint even finished yet..
**edit**
Just read your post above, and you might want to look at something like these
http://www.gremlinsolutions.co.uk/glassclips.htm
They will hold the glass down to the table, but these are designed for tabletop arcades normally (and gremlin only seem to do black I think)

mmm was thinking of using trangles cornors to hold it down as i already have the table top and its 40mm thick wood (£79) but i mostly want this TFT or LCD screen that i can mod cos i was thinking the open ones but pauls one costed too much and so where car headrests so i looked at a PS1 portable screen and i might get away with it but i need a good one tho cos i wanna put it on the other side of the mid fan

hahaha, love the black light mate, bet B&Q thought you was the local dealer ;)
Good idea though mate, i may start a log and actually finish this one, as im in the process of sourcing the final parts for my Mini-ITX system for my car :D
Good luck with the mod.

ok sorry for the delay as i had some money shorts but i havent brought much this month so heres what i got and done so far from the parts i had already but just needed to fit in.
ok what i did was i had an cooler master drive thingy which was so boring and have to keep looking at a funny angle to see it well not this time as i striped it and wow there was nothing much inside so could have smallen the board but sadly i finnished collage years ago so i had to mod this one instead
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image068.jpg
i took out the needle blocks out and put it on some wood and hot glued later on
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image071.jpg
then i relised lighting as it was 6 blue leds and a strange backing to reflect it so i thought i make my own but im using 12 leds to make sure it was bright enough
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image072.jpg
soldered them togeather
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image074.jpg
then i tested it and NOTHING lit up the needles so i thought i'll try using 24 leds but was a little better but then i cramed 32 LED's and then soldered em all togeather minding the electral working
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image076.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image077.jpg
i orderd a Tagan ATX2.01 Turbojet Quad SLi Silent PSU and arrived like this...sweet
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image078.jpg
opend up
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image079.jpg
took it out
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image081.jpg
layed the cables out
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image082.jpg
so i put thePSU on hold cos i cant do anything with it just yet so i look back at the 6.5" TFT touch screen (£170) and halfway made a box for it
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image086.jpg
then i needed to make a plate for the box so i can install the switches and my first atempt was using steel sheets (mesured and predrilled)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image087.jpg
then disaster stikes.....on the 2nd hole during drilling a 20mm hole RIPED a metal chunk up
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image088.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image089.jpg
so i thought i'll stick to wood and i did ( i know they are bulky bolts but will change the 2 later in time when i get more money)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image092.jpg
ok as i wanted to get the cooler master thingy sorted i made a copy shape of the board and marked the holes
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image093.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image094.jpg
i was going to put it in that big space where the fan extention joints are...
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image095.jpg
but to keep it off the wood and cables is by using these old spacers that i got from my old computer case (the fish tank)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image096.jpg
installed the spacers and yes i know its very wonky but i dont care cos i aint a carpter
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image097.jpg
doom56
17-10-2006, 11:46 AM
i installed more spacers for the meatal plate so the PSU can sit on by sticky tape then test fited it all and this is how it went
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image098.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image099.jpg
next was the water pump and sadly my D5 was dying in my computer as its not moving much water anymore so...dont worry i slaped in my EHEIM 1250 (from my green monster devil looking case) and didnt fit very well
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image100.jpg
so i took out the HDD out and refit the pump and screwed in
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image101.jpg
conected the pipe from the res to pump
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image103.jpg
then i left it for a while and got back to the things i needed to do first as it had to be done
ok i mounted the 32 LED base and cabled down the wires
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image104.jpg
i made a back plate for it and pritstick some alu tin foil and then nailed it to the block
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image105.jpg
and done...not bad eh altho i cant be bothered to clean it up
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image106.jpg
then i got the PCB board and sleaved the cables and spend an hour finding which wire was which as i forgot to lable them
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image108.jpg
when i done all that i move back to the box again and fitted the pipe from the CPU block to the res tank
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image110.jpg
here is a bracket i was going to use for the HDD and they seemed a bit to long
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image111.jpg
thats better
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image112.jpg
then i mounted the HDD on the side of the box and leveled it up later on after the pic was taken
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image113.jpg
installed the cables
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image114.jpg
back to the TFT screen i needed to reroot the power switch if i was going to cover the whole box later so here it is
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image115.jpg
then i went back to the cooler master thingy and soldered the 2 power wires for the 32 LED's
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image116.jpg
then tidyed my cables
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image117.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image118.jpg
i installed the PSU and what a mess it was
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image119.jpg
so messy i coulnt stand it
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image120.jpg
doom56
17-10-2006, 11:50 AM
so i drilled a hole in the bottom of the box and fed the unnessery cables through it
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image121.jpg
getting cleaner
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image124.jpg
where the unwanted cables are (will sort it out later)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image125.jpg
found my old Y piece and found it was covered in limescale
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image126.jpg
so i cleaned it all up and installed it so i can conect my fill port on the spare tube on the right
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image132.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image128.jpg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/image133.jpg
well thats it for now will post more at the end of this month when i install the 7950 GTX superclocked GPU and watercooled and most of all leak testing.

Right thought i keep you updated cos this month im not gonna do much as i dont have much money to spend as i just blew under £400 on the EVGA 7950 superclocked PCI-e. also i blew my HDD on the computer im using now so i lost a lot but here is what i saved just before i did...
ok i was getting less things to do so i got some more stair bannasters and now i have 4 :)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic158.jpeg
i cut them down to 29" then sanded them down later (took me 5 hours to sand down them all)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic160.jpeg
i cut a rear boarder and made the side boarders and screwed them all togeather (i left the front due to no leg room)
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic161.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic162.jpeg
when i spent £70 on this MASSIVE wood it arrived very badly warped and phoned them up and got an exchange then it was warped too so i laid it flat and put heavy weights on it and left it for 4 months and here it is
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic163.jpeg
then i mounted the leg frame on
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic164.jpeg
then fliped it over and here is the results
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic167.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic168.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic170.jpeg
next the tricky bit planing to cut the hole out and after 2 days i got a final drawing and all marked on the table
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic173.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic175.jpeg
the next thing was i preped everything ready and i had to change the mounting the box to the table cos one cornor was 1/2cm longer and when i rechecked everything i got diffrent results so this is plan B
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic176.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic177.jpeg
ok now the most expencive job ever on a 4 weeks to order and £70 wood board is to cut the hole out.
first off i drilled hole on each cornor so i dont have to do a wonky job later on
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic178.jpeg
then start to cut with a jig saw
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic179.jpeg
and volia
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic180.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic181.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic182.jpeg
doom56
28-10-2006, 11:35 AM
ok now on to the computer box preping
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic187.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic188.jpeg
then i fliped the table over again so its flat and did a few mesurements and the rear leg support boarder was in the way so i had to remove it
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic189.jpeg
i fliped the computer box over and moved it about to where i marked the lines early on then screwed it in
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic190.jpeg
then i got 3 people to help me with the flip again as it weighed a TON and here is the ending results
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic192.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic183.jpeg
then i went to work on the back by putting the boarder on and this time lower
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic185.jpeg
well thats it for now and the next thing to do is mod and fit the DVD combo drive in a wood case :p sounding good already then keep checking back here.

28-10-2006, 07:15 PM
wha doom its looking very nice now!
you'd be stuck if you wanted to take it somewhere lol :)
Nice idea doom, i did once consider it myself with a m-itx motherboard and a flip up screen, but dropped the idea with the lack of performance and posibilitites with the motherboard. Keep it coming!

18-11-2006, 04:02 PM
ok heres an update and almost done now
i needed to get on with the dvd combi drive so i choped up some wood and did some quick messurements
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic194.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic195.jpeg
i drilled some more holes so i can stealth the door in wood
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic196.jpeg
mounted the upper cover to the wood
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic197.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic198.jpeg
then i needed to have a hard think and a few trys and tests for the led so when the door moves the wire moves and this is the results
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic199.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic200.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic201.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic202.jpeg
i mounted it on to the table and did the wires
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic220.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic221.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic224.jpeg
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic225.jpeg
I then moved on to the graphics card
this is the stock heatsinks it came with my 7950GTX and well looked plain just like the other makes
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic204.jpeg
added some tubes ready
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic206.jpeg
took the card in half ready for the water blocks to be fitted
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic208.jpeg
1 heatsink off and this was it was like
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic209.jpeg
took of the pads off and they felt like plasters lol
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic210.jpeg
here are the water blocks to be mounted
http://s113016774.websitehome.co.uk/uploads/pic211.jpeg
i paste some heat transfer compounds and fitted both blocks on

well i have the computer up and running and only took 10 mins to install win XP and get on the internet :p (i aint kidding)
all i got to get now is just the glass and to mount them i was thinking like cornor brackets like you see on suitecases and things with brassy bits on the cornors but the looks of things im gonna have to make them as they are gonna be big unless i look in B&Q tmo if i get the chance...
its a lovely computer and will get the pics up and running as soon as i get the glass..

well its not as good as i expected from an asus board as i should have sticked with an DFI as this one keeps crashing and other problems and its overclocking is prethetic from 2.4 to 2.75 GHx i can push more with a DFI board so im gonna get one as soon as i get paid and also to get the glass
the cd drive had given up cos of the poor motor to drive the door died as it couldnt give the power i wanted it to run so i made an new one and faild too but did some adjustments to the door by putting lighter wood on it and move the leds and made a box for a power switch and cd door switch and the 4 leds one is for the power led, 2nd is the HDD led, 3rd is the dvd led, and lastly is the cd/dvd writing status led.
i had to scrap the touch screen as the 7950 is just to powerful for it and it wont attach in the settings. so im gonna use it for something else now...

Sorry to hear about the Hardware issues, But man, Everything else is looking great!
I myself am a woodworker, And when I saw the first pic with the parts on the particle board, I was worried you would use that as the surface. But after seeing you went with a solid workbench block, My worries ended! I love solid carpentry and that surface is going to be perfect!
Keep up the work and keep us posted, Hope those dang hardware issues get resolved.

well its not as good as i expected from an asus board as i should have sticked with an DFI as this one keeps crashing .
I knew it!!! Look, there is no airflow around those heat spreaders from chipset! That might be your problem and i've had exactly the same. When you using watercooling for CPU you must also use those stupid loud fans from Asus on those spreaders or get rid of them and get chipset coolers.
To this project. Good idea but you didnt go into details which make this project poor average.
I've also seen unresized pictures and i can clearly see saw dust in PCI slots and RAM slots!!! OMG :@ If this was my hardware, i would kick your ass.
This saw dust might be also reason of crashing...
Good luck anyway and next time do it better and think more further

I've seen issues with touchscreens and gfx cards before that were due to resolution/refresh issues. PCI gfx cards were normally required to get them working before swapping back to the main gfx.

I did, but i bet that the saw dust did damage allready.Dont wana be bitchy, sorry if this sounds like that. I build between 30 to 40 custom pc's and rule nr. 1 is keep the place clean and tidy and have a plan! I'd say Doom is now angry with himself. Not well spend money and by the time this gona work, this hardware dropped from top end to mid.
One more think. From starting installing software to getting connected to the internet in 10 mins? right lmao
Tested today on my X6800, 2GB Mushkin 8000MHz,Win XP Pro took 14 mins !!!
BitingBunny its his own computer and he can choose to build it however he likes, did you ever consider that he my have been saying 10 minutes as a figure of speech? Theres no need to go and conduct a test to see how fast it is physically possible to install XP.

No no no, i want apologize to you guys and i mean it. Its just from my point of view, this project could be done better. Its propably just lack of time from Doom and in that spare time he is trying to do as much as he can, but as we can see after few months its not done and not working. Its a great idea and all credit to him but...
My PC are comercial shite compare to this. Just usual stuff like side windows, cathodes and watercooling so there is nothing to show off.
Im working (on the paper yet) on complete silent PC with not a single fan,my own case and heat spreaders, but that new 8800 is giving me headache...
I would be interested to see some of your work tbh, and the silent PC does sound quite a project escpecially with a 8800.

say something like " but, maybe you should have mentioned what you done with it."

BitingBunny why have you only posted in this thread, and after what was said the other night you continue to start worthless arguments, an make a complete mess of Doom's Project Log, which is a shame cause i think the idea behind the project is very good and have considered a similar project myself for a coffee table in my living room, then i can browse the internet from my chair and still watch TV on the media center.

Im working (on the paper yet) on complete silent PC with not a single fan,my own case and heat spreaders, but that new 8800 is giving me headache...
after reading your posts the first thing i suggest is how the hell would you do a fanless computer EG find me a fanless psu that can support a WHOLE computer and that 8800 card, secondly if you water cool it your still gonna put fans on a RAD. to my suggestion is dont waste time building a comp to make it quite just simply wear earplugs or headphones....
ok im back on old fish tank computer as my new one had died. when i power it on the useal flashy lights flash but i get no display and no HDD blinking led and cant power off even the 4second trick till i turn the psu off.
i have spoken to my local computer store and they suggest me was the psu cos as soon as it starts the 12v works fine but to power the rest of mobo is dead....
OR
i blew the asus mobo as its not good enough for me so im gonna get the DFI LanParty UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G....(stop dooling please) but will get this as soon as i get paid but will be some time as i have been very ill in the pass few days. (heart problems but getting better)
and yes i did that review cos its not as good as the box says it does as the overclocking was RUBBISH as it only went from 2.6GHz to 2.75GHz and wont let you overclock the memory or mobo or nothing its RUBBISH so thats why im moving back to DFI as i can overclock everything i want...even my shaft :P
i scraped the touch screen idea and now looking at the 24" dell TFT but will be a long wait tho....
i had made a box and rewired the power switch and leds and made another dvd combo bay as the NEC died on me and this one almost died but came back to life but now with a lighter wood door and moved the led's with the new box i made (will upload pics soon as i get the settings working)
well keep u posted as soon as i can when i do something with it...
as for the wood dust...have you ever heard of a bush and a hoover? very efective....

Lol yeah, an ikea flat pack pc.
I would go with a creative x-fi, you can get them for around £60 OEM now. As for the phsyx cards I think they are a waste of money... theres hardly any games that use them and with the new GPUs being able to process physics and games becoming mulithreaded i dont really see the need to buy one.
hey Doom, what was the problem with it in the end? was the mobo effing up and fried both CPUs? working ok now it's on the DFI? maybe get a creative sound card with the break box? bit of extra work but maybe worth it.

most expensive part i ever ruined was 90 quid for x800gto16 gfx card.
I gotta say, should have planned this one out better, I mean wasting 2 grand is out of this world.

sorry but, i dont like this computer desk because of the wasted money, you didnt think this one thru.
You can plan absolutly everything and still run into problems such as blown CPU, and that is no reason not to like the computer desk. Personally i think even with all the problems doom has run into the mod is superb, sometimes we all spend to long wondering about the negative sides of doing something new and different, when really we should just give it a go, if we fail, atleast we had a go.
The work doom has done, makes me want to go and build one myself, is that not part of what modding should be about? i got to hand it to him for doing a true custom case.
darren1678

You can plan absolutly everything and still run into problems such as blown CPU,
.
what about the other 1800 quids worth of ruined or unwise purchases for the mod??
All i am saying is he should have planned the mod better. installed the components in a less dusty environment and treated his components with more respect during the assembly.
The table isn't my cup of tea but, big ups to the guy for attempting it, but he should have, paid more attention to the details, less rushing to get it finished.

Just had an awesome idea for an "upgrade" to this already awesome work.
One of those graphics tablets thats like $2,500 (displays the screen as well as being pressure senstive with pen etc) And just use that as the display nestled in to the table.
Maybe next time Doom?? LOL :D
Props on completion though, thats got to be some talking point in the dining/living room (or wherever you decide to let it live)

i started on the project last june and finnished on 24/12/06 but without glass so when you said the word rush think again as i did strip most of it down again and spend 2 weeks on each wood panel then refit it all again as i did cleartly say at the start is a mess but went back to finnish it off.
as for teebor's idea sounds good but last time i saw someone tried lost a whole 52" screen as he should have brought a bullet proof glass and not a fivers worth of glass...but its whats modding is all about.

I never said the table was a mess, i was criticizing your attention to detail when fitting the components, not treating them with enough, respect, when handeling them.
Like others have said, there was wood dust clearly visible in the motherboard's crevices, You wasted 2 grands worth of components. with either bad choices or "blown" components.
This is clearly an area where, you failed to plan ahead, and made bad decisions.
Just because you took ages on the project doesn't mean it doesn't have a rushed feeling too it..

ok first of all its not wood dust you see its was the roof dust as a few weeks after i started the celling had clapsed and for the wood bits in the memory modual slots where cleared out and was all very clean before i powered it on.
and to what you said about me blowing money on components that i wasted was i was unable to test a fault after i had it running for 3 weeks as i did not know i blew the cpu due to crappy asus mobo's.
the touch screen didnt work as the 7950 card is to powerful but works on an agp card.
